Holiday shopping is upon us, and the choices are endless. Every year I think of the best gadgets and gizmos I can get my friends, but there’s always a budget. My money tree has never quite bloomed, so I need to be smart about my purchases. I often daydream of what it would be like if money were no object. I like to think about what the elite of the elite finds in their stocking stuffers. This year, instead of looking at the gifts I can afford, I feel like picking out the most amazingly expensive things I can find. Here now is my list of the most costly but awesome gifts you can get your friends and loved ones if money meant absolutely nothing.
PANASONIC TH-152UXIW Television
Price: $770,000
The Panasonic TH-152UXIW is a 152” monster of a television set. It gives full HD and 3D eye view along with 4,096 x 2,160 pixels resolution. The Aspect ratio is 17:9 and is considered one of the most expensive televisions in the world. It’s not the most expensive, but certainly is a sight to behold over the holiday season. I always said I wanted a TV big enough to irradiate myself, and this sucker might do it!
8Pack OrionX Gaming PC
Price: $30,000
The OrionX Gaming PC is insane. I don’t even know where to start with this one. The machine is comprised of two systems housed in one Phantek Enthoo Elite case. The higher-end system is powered by a 10-core Intel i7-6950 processor, and the other holds an Intel Core i7-7700k processor.
You’ll find four Nvidia GeForce Titan X graphics cards with a total of 48GB of gaming memory. That’s insane just by itself. The system comes with so many different storage setups; it would take forever to list them here. Let’s say you could download the world onto this thing and still have room for your Napster collection.
The OrionX has three custom-made liquid cooling loops to keep everything at the desired temperature. It’s a gamer’s dream to have one of these, and you can get one built for you if the cash is there. Spend the holiday with Fortnite and all your online friends.
Panasonic Varicam 35 Film Camera
Price: $55,000
The Panasonic Varicam 35 is the ultimate gift for the film buff in your life. This delicious piece of technology is used by the professionals to film everything from TV shows to commercials and beyond. The camera can be used in varying light levels and is the most expensive camera on the market. If you know someone who is an aspiring filmmaker, this gift will give them the edge they’ve been looking for. Talent sold separately.
Submarine Sports Car
Price: $2 million
James Bond is the definition of cool, and so are his gadgets. Inspired by The Spy Who Loved Me, The Submarine Sports Car is every Bond fan’s dream. Drive it on land or submerge it in water, you’re going places in this nerd masterpiece. The Submarine Car can only drive about 33 feet underwater, but it has enough oxygen to stay submerged for an hour. I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would actually need this thing, but I can definitely say I’d want it. I have no idea why, but something about this makes me smile. There are no practical uses for the Submarine Car, so unless you’ve messed with Spectre, I don’t think you’ll need to run out and buy one.
Tales of Beedle the Bard – Book by J.K. Rowling
Price: $4.89 million
Tales of Beedle the Bard was written by the Harry Potter author mostly as gifts, though one was sold for charity. The seven copies are each bound in leather and encrusted with semi-precious gems. For any J.K. Rowling fans out there, this book is a must-have. There are copies on Amazon for $6 in paperback, but that’s for the ordinary people. To love J.K. is to shell out big bucks for her original work. Now go out and find someone willing to sell their copy.
Visit the Titanic
Price: $59,680
The Titanic is one of the most alluring shipwrecks of all time. James Cameron loves that ship for a reason. The mystique and history surrounding the doomed vessel have stayed in our minds ever since it sank over a hundred years ago.
Over the course of 11-12 hours, two people and the pilot will descend to the Titanic’s final resting place. Once you arrive, the majesty of it all hits as you pass by the anchor, massive boiler, and peer at the grand staircase, all frozen in time. Aside from the next item on this list, If I could choose anything to receive as a gift, it would be this. I should note, nowhere on the website does it explain how one uses the facilities on such a long trip. It’s probably better we don’t ask.
Virgin Galactic – Trip to Space
Cost: $250,000
A trip to space is the greatest gift to give to the person who has everything! Virgin Galactic will take you to the 62-mile high Karman line. This area marks the boundary between the upper atmosphere and outer space. Trips on the SpaceShipTwo (As it’s called) haven’t been announced yet, but the tickets are hot commodities. If anyone out there has a measly $250,000 just burning a hole in their pocket, please send me to space. I’m a lifelong Star Trek fan who would drop everything and join a mission to Mars. We’re a long way from exploring the cosmos, as Kirk and Picard did, but this is a great first step.
There You have it, fellow readers. This Holiday season, go big or go home. Forget about all the cheap things you can get your friends and family. I want you to dig deep into those wallets and bank accounts. Buy stuff for that special someone in your life that says how much you really love them. Send them to space or down to the Titanic. Have a romantic holiday under the sea in your Submarine Car. We all deserve to treat ourselves. Remember, for everything on this list, and there is someone out there who’s bought it.
Happy Holidays!
