Casual viewers and avid fans have come to love the charming, iconic avatars of their beloved anime VTubers. However, starting this month, our favorite fun-size shark, epic-gamer detective, fried chicken phoenix, octopus artist, and grim reaping rapper will be sporting flashy new looks for their virtual characters. The following is a mini-showcase of the fresh, new outfits for Gawr Gura, Watson Amelia, Takanashi Kiara, Ninomae Ina’nis, and Mori Calliope.
Gura’s New Outfit: #CatShark
It’s quite a time to be alive when a YouTube stream for an outfit reveal of an anime catshark can reach over one million views within less than 7 hours. Gura’s “Chumbud” fanbase is relieved that Gura can finally “wash her hoodie,” a circulating joke within the Hololive EN community. Upon her request during the stream, viewers counted a total of 108 times that Gura said the word “cute.”
Amelia’s New Outfit: #glAMErous
A dainty “disguise” with an adorable pose, Ame’s “Teammates” chortled with excitement with the reveal of the detective’s new classy style. The glamourous outfit comes equipped with the cutest doggy that sits on the top of her hat. On the flip side, many viewers concurred that the highlight of Ame’s stream was apparently her avatar’s newfound ability to scratch her behind. As expected, the goofy dork energy of the Hololive EN community never ceases to amaze.
Kiara’s New Outfit: #phoenixfashion
If there’s anything anime enthusiasts love to see on a girl, it’s either vulpine or feline ears. Kiara’s fashionable new look reflects the latter. In her stream, Kiara took the time to set up an entire clothes-shopping narrative to reveal her new outfit in what her fans KFPs (“Kiara Fried Phoenix”) called “the most meta way possible.” After the reveal, Kiara sang her two Hololive EN original songs, HINOTORI and Heart Challenger, and even took the viewers out on a virtual picnic.
Ina’s New Outfit: #fashionINAsta
Ina in a pINAfore dress — even her new outfit radiates that “glorious pun energy” Ina is well known for. The garments perfectly match the artistically wholesome chic vibes that Ina can generate. The Hololive EN “Tentacult” can now enjoy and appreciate the eldritch anime gender-bender Bob Ross’s new simplistic but stylish look in all her glory. During her reveal stream, Ina also held a philosophical discussion on “how versatile glasses really are.”
Calli’s New Outfit: #CalliDrip
Watson wasn’t bluffing when she mentioned on-stream that Calliope would resemble a Pokemon Trainer. Yet, Calli’s fresh new outfit is anything but impressive, with a groovy mic, shiny bling, rad shoes — the ultimate Hololive EN “drip.” True to her character, Calli gave her “Dead Beat” fans a lively mini-concert full of fiery raps and sick beats to compliment her reveal stream. The performance was a spicy mix of elegance and coolness, with the viewer count peaking at a whopping 135.5k.
