Completing Horizon: Forbidden West isn’t just about beating the main mission list. Rather, there are some side areas you must visit, many of which are even connected to the main quests. Cauldron dungeons are some of those areas. In Horizon: Forbidden West, you’ll need all the Cauldron locations if you want to gain the machine override abilities.
All Cauldron Locations in Horizon: Forbidden West
Cauldron spots are like dungeons in Horizon: Forbidden West. These areas also act like puzzles to solve, but more than that, they present you with insanely helpful tools for the overall game: machine override abilities.
So, you definitely want to find and get through all 6 of them. They’re all not accessible right away, as you must open the world up a bit first.
We won’t dive into all the details. Instead, we’ll just show you where you’ll need to go, around what point in the game it’ll happen, and what overrides you’ll get.
Keep in mind, though, that once you start a Cauldron location, you can’t stop until you finish. Thankfully, if things get too tough, you can always have someone help get you out of a tight spot.
TAU Cauldron Location
Around Level 15 during The Dying Man’s main quest, the game will direct you right to this Cauldron location in Horizon: Forbidden West. It sits west of the Plainsong Settlement in the Utaru territory.
This is an excellent starter Cauldron, as you’ll understand how to work your way through future ones.
Override Codes:
- Bristleback
- Grimhorn
- Plowhorn
MU Cauldron Location in Horizon: Forbidden West
Another standard Cauldron you’ll find in Horizon: Forbidden West is the MU one. This should happen when you’re around Level 18, and it’s further southeast on the map. Check the mountains that are west of Stone’s Edge. It’s around where you’re sent to look for Sylens.
Although optional, this is a vital Cauldron to finish as it unlocks plenty of overrides for many machines.
Override Codes:
IOTA Cauldron
The IOTA Cauldron doesn’t just help you complete a Cauldron in the game; it also gives you a Tallneck. But there’s a catch: the Tallneck isn’t finished yet. It’s being constructed, so you have to clear the Cauldron to try to rebuild it.
Locating this isn’t so straightforward, though. It sits directly north of Stalding Spear. If you note the lake on the map (above), head east to find the IOTA Cauldron in Horizon: Forbidden West. The entrance isn’t the one on the ground. Instead, head south of the platform, where you’ll see a small crevice to slip through.
Override Codes:
- Bellowback
- Clawstrider
- Glinthawk
- Lancehorn
- Leaperslash
- Longleg
- Ravager
- Rollerback
- Skydrifter
- Snapmaw
CHI Cauldron Location in Horizon: Forbidden West
In the southern area of Sentinel Forest is the CHI Cauldron. Look for the coast as it sits just off the beach. Just start from Thornmarsh and work your way southeast from there to find the location.
This one takes a bit of work because you have to power the Cauldron back up. If you like puzzles, you’ll enjoy figuring this area out. Go into this ready for a fight too, but you should be well-equipped as you’ll most likely be around Level 30.
Override Codes:
- Behemoth
- Clamberjaw
- Fireclaw
- Frostclaw
- Redeye Watcher
- Scorcher
- Shellsnapper
- Shell-Walker
- Spikesnout
- Stalker
GEMINI Cauldron
Another Cauldron you’ll reach around Level 30 is also a part of the main story. It’s a tough one to hit, but you’ll receive a highly useful override at the end. This sits just west of the Scalding Spear settlement. On your map, it’s right in the center.
Override Code:
- Sunwing
KAPPA Cauldron Location in Horizon: Forbidden West
Around Level 40 or so, you’ll tackle the KAPPA Cauldron. This is, without a doubt, one of the toughest ones. You can’t even complete it without having the Diving Mask. There are plenty of puzzles to solve, so be ready to take some time with this one.
This Cauldron is out of the way, too, in Horizon: Forbidden West. Look northwest of the Greenhouse and west of The Bulwark. It’s tucked away, but you can follow the beach to get there.
Override Codes:
- Dreadwing
- Rockbreaker
- Slaughterspine
- Slitherfang
- Stormbird
- Thunderjaw
- Tideripper
- Tremortusk
