Simon Pegg is a busy man these days. Alongside playing a pivotal role in the Mission Impossible and Star Trek series, he has also been pitching ideas for a Hot Fuzz sequel.
In a recent interview promoting Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Pegg was asked which of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy he would choose to make a sequel to: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, or The World’s End.
“I think the only one of those films that could possible get a sequel is Hot Fuzz, just because that could a continuing, sort-of action-style, cop thing … because Hot Fuzz was about my character going to the countryside to be a cop in a small town. It would have to be about Nicholas Angel taking Frost’s character, Danny, to the big city. It would have to be like Crocodile Dundee 2 was. That sort of reversal of plot.”
The original Hot Fuzz released in 2007 to considerably favorable reviews. The film eventually gained cult classic status alongside Shaun of the Dead, thanks in consideration to being syndicated on Comedy Central.
At the moment, Pegg is currently working on the upcoming horror comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez with Cornetto Trilogy co-star Nick Frost. The official synopsis states the film will be about a British boarding school that turns into a battleground when unspeakable horrors emerge from the ground.
