Ray tracing is a relatively new sphere in software, and it still has many applications that have yet to be explored. I’ll be honest, I’ve heard of ray tracing. However, my knowledge of ray tracing is minimal. I know that ray tracing is something relatively new software and that it’s come a long way. Recently, there is an Israeli software company, Adshir, which has introduced a new version of ray tracing, LocalRay, which is designed to be used on smartphones and consoles.
A New Software Announcement
Adshir announced this development at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the simpler time of January, you know, before the coronavirus apocalypse. Reuven Bakalash, the founder of Adshir, recently interviewed with WCCFTech and revealed that their software LocalRay is slated to be used by a “leading console manufacturer” and one of the “biggest smartphone companies” in games that will be coming out this year.
Bakalash was unwilling to reveal which console manufacturer and smartphone company that Adshir was working with. He stated that “it’s still too early” to discuss the specifics of the deals and which games would be produced using LocalRay. Adshir has also released some demos on YouTube showing the effects of their software on the game’s graphics, and it is stunning.
Systems LocalRay Works With
Adshir states that LocalRay works on Intel’s graphics and Unity, but not NVIDIA since they have their own ray tracing software. Bakalash also says that they are running on Windows and Android, so it will be interesting to see which console and smartphone manufacturer will feature these awesome graphics.
LocalRay is fantastic software, and it is so refreshing to see how far technology has come from what was once groundbreaking computer animation, like Avatar. LocalRay is awe-inspiring to see what the future of gaming holds. If these videos are any indication, the future of gaming is bright.
