As the release of Overwatch 2 approaches, Overwatch players are eager to discover how they can save their progress rather than start over. Thankfully, the sequel will support cross-progression. This is true regardless of what system you play the game on. However, the only way you can do this is to merge your account. With our help, you can merge your account with Overwatch 2 so that you’re ready to use the cross-progression feature when the game releases.
How to Merge your Account with Overwatch 2 for Cross-Progression
When Overwatch 2 releases, the sequel will replace the current game. Thankfully, it will support cross-progression. If you don’t know, cross-progression means that your progress will follow you regardless of what you play on.
For instance, you can play the game on your PS5 and, with the cross-progression feature, see your progress in the PC version of Overwatch 2.
But first, you must merge your Overwatch account so that it’s ready for Overwatch 2 in the first place. Typically, the process should start automatically if you already have a linked console account. With this automated process, the system will prompt you to choose and confirm the accounts you want to merge when you log in.
In some cases, this automatic process might not happen. In this case, you can manually merge your account for Overwatch 2 following the steps below.
Keep this in mind: you have a single opportunity to merge your accounts for Overwatch 2. If you merge the wrong account, you must wait one year to try it again.
PC Account Merge
- Set up your Battle.net account if you haven’t already.
- Head to account.battle.net/connections.
- Once there, choose from the list of different accounts what to merge and click “Connect.”
- After you’re done with the account merge, you’ll log into Overwatch 2 with your Battle.net login information.
Console Overwatch 2 Account Merge
Note: you can only merge a single account from a console. For example, only one Xbox profile on your console can merge for cross-progression.
- Launch and log into Overwatch from the console you play on.
- After you follow the onscreen prompts, a QR code will show up that you must scan with your phone.
- You must enter the code on your console to follow the steps to log into or create a new Battle.net account.
- The next time you log in from your console, you’ll be prompted to verify your Battle.net account to merge your Overwatch accounts.
