DMZ is the new mode that was added to Warzone 2. It was inspired by Escape from Tarkov where you take contracts and get extracted before the time runs out. With the start of new seasons in Warzone 2, a bunch of new tasks and missions have been added to DMZ as well. One of the confusing missions in Warzone 2 DMZ is the Key Elimination, and here is how to complete it in the game.
How to Complete Key Elimination in Warzone 2 DMZ
If you have played the previous season of DMZ, then you are familiar with how missions of each Tier and Faction works in the game. Usually, the first missions are simple and can be done quickly but as you progress it becomes harder.
Key Elimination is a Tier 1 mission of the Legion faction. The tasks of completing this mission are fairly simple and straight to the point, but for the lack of explanation, players get confused.
In order to complete the Key Elimination mission in DMZ, you have to complete three tasks which are:
- Complete an Eliminate HVT contract
- Loot a key found on an HVT or elsewhere
- Use a key to unlock a locked space or locked cache
The first two tasks are fairly simple. Once you’ve started the match open your map and find the nearest HVT contract to you and then complete it. As for the second task, all you have to do is loot a key, and it doesn’t matter where you find it. While you might have thought that you needed to pick a key from HVT, finding it elsewhere also counts.
Then there is the last bit which most players tend to get stuck in. It is fairly simple to just use a key to open a locked space or cache, but there seems to be a bug where the game doesn’t recognize you unlocking the cache, and therefore not marking the mission as completed.

The only thing you can do is simply find another key, keep it in your backpack, and unlock another space or cache. Not all players experience this bug, but if you do, this is the only solution for it at the time of writing this article.
Warzone 2 DMZ is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
