There is a host of Pokémon games that fans of the franchise adore. Pokémon GO is only on smartphones and encourages players to get up and move as if they were really in the game. Meanwhile, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet offers players a more modern and updated look at the classics. Although available on different platforms, the two have finally come together. Now, you can connect Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. We’ll walk you through the process and touch on what you can expect from it all.
Connect Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
A feature that many players craved, you can now connect both your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet account to your Pokémon GO account. It only just became available on February 27, 2023. This connection offers some new experiences in both games. However, it is made clear that you cannot send Pokémon from Pokémon GO over to the other game. Instead, there are other features you can enjoy.
But first, before we go on, be sure you are current with your updates for both games. Otherwise, there is a strong chance this will not work.
Now, let’s break down what you need to do to connect Pokémon GO to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Here is everything you need to do on your Pokémon GO game:
- Select the Poké Ball on the bottom center of the screen and select “Settings” at the top right
- Choose “Connected Devices and Services”

- Select your postcard and choose “SEND TO NINTENDO SWITCH.”
After that’s done, let’s head over to either Scarlet or Violet and follow these steps:

When you connect your devices, you can only send one postcard per day. When you do this, in Pokémon GO, you can use the Coin Bag to encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul. This is unlike in Scarlet or Violet where you can only currently encounter Chest Form Gimmighoul.
However, come sometime in the spring of 2023, you can link Scarlet or Violet to Pokémon HOME and send the Roaming Form over from Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO is available on iOS and Android. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is available on Nintendo Switch.
