Introduced in Patch 6.3, the Flamecloaked Barding in Final Fantasy XIV is a new cosmetic item that Warriors of Light can use to adorn their Chocobo, featuring an aesthetic reminiscent of Rubicante. For those unfamiliar with this character, Rubicante is a recurring character in the Final Fantasy series who first appeared in Final Fantasy IV as a fire-elemental archfiend. While his role might not have been as significant as Cecil or Rosa, fans of the Final Fantasy franchise will doubtlessly appreciate the Flamecloaked Barding for its unique style and source of inspiration.Â
Crafting the Flamecloaked Barding in FFXIV
As a three-star Master Weaver Recipe in FFXIV, the Flamecloaked Barding is not inherently available for crafters to make. Disciples of the Hand must first get their hands on Master Weaver X, an esoteric tome containing the clothcraft recipes that Level 90 Weavers can only learn.Â

According to Gillionaire Girls, players can unlock access to Master Recipe Books by completing the side quest, “Just Tooling Around,” which can be initiated by speaking with Guiding Star in Mor Dhona at the coordinates (X: 21.9, Y: 6.9). However, bear in mind that the crafters will need to be equipped with a Level 50+ crafting tool to prove their worth to the NPC. Once this quest has been fulfilled, players will need to earn the rest of the Master Recipe Books, including Master Weaver X, by participating in Collectable Crafting and Delivery. After reaching Level 90, Weavers can spend 1,200 White Crafters’ Scrips to get the recipe book for the Flamecloaked Barding.Â
To craft the Flamecloaked Barding in FFXIV, Weavers will need the following materials:Â
Resource | Source |
Pearl of Flames × 1 |
Bayberry Cloth × 2 |
Ilmenite Ingot × 2 |
Rutilated Quartz × 1 |
Lightning Cluster × 3 |
Wind Cluster × 3 |
Some of the items above are not marketable, but those that are can be purchased with Gil on the player-shared Market Board. In particular, crafters who do not have Level 90 Gathering Professions will likely need to buy the materials via the Market Board or trade with other players. Once Weavers have acquired all the necessary resources, they can make Flamecloaked Barding in Final Fantasy XIV.
Final Fantasy XIVÂ is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
