The Arbalest is a Two-handed Crossbow in Valheim capable of dealing 200 points of ranged damage but can only be fired every six seconds due to its cycle of animations used. Moreover, it is quite restricted in terms of agility, as the Arbalest’s reload animation is reset whenever its user jumps or sprints, making this weapon rather ineffective against fast-moving, mobile targets. Nevertheless, due to its extreme damage output, this Crossbow weapon can still be a formidable force when taking on enemies with a large hitbox or slow-moving, making them easy to hit.Â
Unlocking the Arbalest Crossbow in Valheim
Crafting the Arbalest Crossbow in Valheim is relatively cheap, requiring only Wood × 10, Iron × 8, and Root × 4. However, the crafting workstation needed to make this weapon is anything but easy to assemble, as it is made from high-end resources only found within the perilous Mistlands biome.Â

How to Get Fenris Claw in Valheim
To craft the Arbalest Crossbow in Valheim, adventurers must assemble the Black Forge, a workstation used primarily for crafting and repairing equipment introduced in the Mistlands Update. This workstation can be made using Black Marble × 10, Yggdrasil Wood × 10, and Black Core × 5. Black Marble is a resource that spawns in the skeleton-like Giant Remains exclusive to the Mistlands biome. Players will need a Blackmetal Pickaxe to mine this mineral. The Black Forge’s second required resource, Yggdrasil Wood, is acquired by chopping Yggdrasil Shoots in the Mistlands with a Blackmetal Axe. Finally, Black Cores are rarities found within the dangerous Infested Mines, the featured Dungeons of the Mistlands.Â
According to YouTuber Jade PG, players can recognize Infested Mines by their long stairway entrances that stand out in the dense forests of the Mistlands. Inside, adventurers will encounter hordes of Seekers that can quickly overwhelm combatants if they are not adequately prepared with strong equipment. The Black Cores needed for the Black Forge can be found on pole-like stands found throughout an Infested Mine. There are also secret chambers marked with blue runes that have a high chance of containing Black Cores. Once players have collected enough Black Marble, Yggdrasil Wood, and Black Cores, they can return to their base and assemble the Black Forge. They can then use Wood, Iron, and Roots from the Swamps to make the Arbalest Crossbow in Valheim.
Valheim is available for PC but will release in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
