There are several ways you can obtain items in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Some you must craft yourself once you have all of the appropriate ingredients. Others require you to find them growing somewhere in a specific biome. You can even get items from characters or Goofy’s stall. The Golden Potato is not one of those items.
You can only get the Golden Potato in Disney Dreamlight Valley if you type in a code. The game has always featured an area to type in codes. However, we haven’t actually received codes to redeem since Early Access began this year.
In the case of the Golden Potato, the code for it showed up back in October during the Halloween promotion. Curious players discovered this hidden mystery code in an image posted to the official Disney Dreamlight Valley Discord.

To access the Golden Potato in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll take the following steps:
- Launch Disney Dreamlight Valley on your preferred system
- Go to “Settings” and select “Help.”
- In the “Redemption Code” section, type in GPOT-OATO-LDFS-ENNM
- Click “Claim”
You must head to your Mailbox afterward and claim it there. The image below shows what you should see:
The code is case-sensitive. So, type it in exactly as you see it. Also, if it doesn’t work, it may be a glitch. In any case, the devs are aware some people have trouble and working on a fix. Check with the Discord page to stay up to date.
Now that we have received the Golden Potato in Disney Dreamlight Valley, what does it do? Unfortunately, the answer to that is still a mystery. You can’t cook with it or eat it. It is not available for gifting to other characters. You can’t even use it as a seed to plant and harvest. The Golden Potato is, for the most part, useless.
