Whether you are attempting to collect every tameable animal in Minecraft or roleplay as a swashbuckling pirate, the Parrot is an excellent feathery companion to keep you company. Unfortunately, they are not easy to find, as they only spawn in the Jungle and Bamboo Jungle biomes at a low rate. For reference, you can typically encounter a Jungle in regions next to the borders of Forest biomes. While Parrots are small creatures in Minecraft, they make distinct “parrot noises” and are generally easy to see, thanks to their colorful plumage. They can come in multiple colors, including red, blue, green, cyan, and gray.
Finding & Taming a Parrot in Minecraft
If you have gotten lucky with a Parrot’s 0.2% chance of spawning, you will be able to tame it using Wheat Seeds, Beetroot Seeds, Melon Seeds, or Pumpkin Seeds in Minecraft. Feeding a Seed to a Parrot is like rolling a die with a 1⁄10 chance of success for it to become tamed.

YouTuber Udisen recommends that Minecraft adventurers bring along around ten Seeds or more before attempting to tame a Parrot since each Seed must compete with the 1⁄10 chance of success mentioned above. Black cloud particles will appear over the Parrot’s head if the attempt is unsuccessful. However, if you manage to tame it, hearts with appear, and the Parrot will follow its new master wherever they go. If you want the Parrot to stay put, you can make it sit on a block like you would a tame Wolf. Sometimes, the Parrot will fly onto your shoulder as you walk about.
