HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse Features and Performance:
Design Features
The HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse offers an ergonomic design that is great for ambidextrous users with all hand sizes. Users have the option of grips including claw, palm and tip and the finger rests are removable. Additionally, the mouse is equipped with 11 buttons that are programmable through OMEN Command Center.
One feature that is pretty nice is the magnets on each side that allows you to swap out the side buttons for a panel that is non-clickable. It comes with several extra pieces to allow for customization with buttons and wings to match your preference.
Wired Mouse Performance
The proactive wireless technology and a high-performing optical-mechanical switch built into this mouse makes it just as perform at the level of a wired mouse. The technology brings an experience that is as good as you would get with a wired competitor. As someone who prefers the least amount of wires to deal with, I like that the wireless feature does not take away from the performance.
Speed and Performance
How many times have you been playing a game and experienced lagging? With the HP Omen Photon mouse, the response time is 3 times faster than the typical mechanical mouse and offers light beam detection.
Another performance feature of the HP Omen Photon Mouse is the esports grade PixArt PAW3335 optical sensor that tracks between 100 and 16,000 dpi which puts it in the same category as most of the top-of-the-line mice.
Lighting
The OMEN Command Center gives the ability to program custom lighting options up to 16.8 million RGB LED color combinations. Programming the color is an option that is very important to some consumers and could make a difference as to whether or not someone buys this mouse.
Battery Life and Charging
The HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse charges in 2 1/2 hours and has a battery life of up to 50 hours and if you do not use the lighting, it can last even longer.
One of the really nice is the Qi-wireless charging feature and HP has you covered with the HP Outpost Mouse pad that we will be reviewing next in our series.
How much does the HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse Cost?
The cost of this mouse is around $129.00.
Verdict:
The HP Omen Photon Wireless Mouse is a viable option for a quality product made for gamers that offers customizable features and speedy technology. The price is a little high but not totally unreasonable. Equipped with extra pieces for customization, it will almost be necessary to keep the box for storage. Overall, performance and design are comparable to other top-of-the-line products in this category and worth a look.
