According to Yoshihiro Togashi, the upcoming update for the Hunter x Hunter manga series is going well. In a recent interview, Togashi explained that the manga’s frequent breaks are due to him suffering from a chronic back problem. It has almost been four years since the Hunter x Hunter manga saw an update. The manga series has been on hiatus ever since November 2018.

He first confirmed that the manga was resuming production on a new Twitter account in May. Many were skeptical of the account and whether or not it actually belonged to the Hunter x Hunter author. It also didn’t really help that his chosen username was @Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp. Many accused the account of being either a troll or bot at the time. Yusuke Murata, the artist for One Punch Man, eventually had to step in and reassure fans that this was the Hunter x Hunter artist actually talking to them.
Togashi and “Hunter x Hunter”: Not Alone In the Process
Togashi then posted a promising update for the series on his personal Twitter account. According to him, he has completed drafts for the first ten chapters since 2018. The only thing left is for the drafts to be inked in properly. In addition to those chapters, he has already started working on the next ten chapters. As of now, he currently has 2.9 million followers on Twitter, who are eagerly awaiting his next update.
This marks the longest hiatus in the series’ history, but the Hunter x Hunter manga has been known to update randomly during the hiatus. Togashi had said that this was implemented because he wanted to produce the series without the help of assistants or studios. While many were saddened at the slowdown of updates, others have found it interesting to see that his wife, Naoko Takeuchi (the creator of Sailor Moon), has been helping him.
