An exciting partnership is taking place, Marvel and IDW Publishing will be creating new comics together with characters from Avengers, Black Panther, and Spiderman. IDW has made its mark and is well known for its indie comics like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Assasinistas. Since 1999 IDW Publishing has grown into one of the top 4 comic publishing companies in the world. Comics ranging from Disney Duck Tales to their Star Trek and Green Lantern Mashup series, IDW pushes some of the most creative storylines. Continuing the quest to be the best this new team up with Marvel helps both companies. The exciting duo will open new worlds for comic characters with limitless journies. IDW is looking forward to the joint venture as stated by John Barber, editor- in- chief of IDW.
“From Iron Man to Captain Marvel, from the Hulk to Shuri — the Marvel pantheon has something for everyone,” said Barber. “With this team-up, Marvel and IDW aim to bring exciting, all-new comics to a generation growing up in a Marvel world.
Kicking off will be Spider-man in November 2018, followed by Avengers in December, and Black Panther in January 2019. Hoping that it will be easier for young readers to follow the adventures of the MCU heroes. The comics will be paperbacks and a new issue every month this looks to be beneficial for both companies.
“Marvel is excited to work with IDW to share these brand-new stories with our younger fans,” said C.B. Cebulski, editor-in-chief of Marvel. “Characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Avengers inspire us through their strength and determination, but they resonate with readers because of the struggles they face and the challenges they overcome. We want to share their journeys with our younger fans first-hand.” Increasing the younger demographic which would ensure the future of both Marvel and IDW. Today’s reading market generally is all digital. Most comic shops close over no foot traffic. Correcting this and giving fans the opportunity to buy their “first” comic is what this united front is all about.
“This partnership reflects the true spirit of collaboration at work,” said Greg Goldstein, president, and publisher of IDW.
