The battle royale genre became a video game mainstay within the last few years. Its hardcore origins of PUBG matchmaking and Fortnite creative skirmishes are still among the most popular. But recently, the genre has begun to appear in multiple unexpected settings. One such setting, for example, is a furniture paradise where hell is about to break loose in Retail Royale.
Retail Therapy Through Warfare
The concept of utilizing anything as a weapon is graciously at the forefront. With the inspiration for the actual IKEA store being a blueprint, IDEA is a massive home furniture, appliance and weapon store where it’s any fighter for themselves. Or at least in Retail Royale‘s case, 12 living mannequins battling it out. Anything you can see can be used in your survival, and unwanted items can be recycled to craft better equipment.
How to Try Out Retail Royale
Retail Royale is currently in its alpha stage. Together with some early development videos of gameplay, the battle royale game is open for playtesting. Players can join the Discord server now and peruse the #become-a-playtester section to partake in weekly sessions.
In the meantime, the video attached showcases much of the fighting and crafting mechanics to expect. Blood is spilled among thrown couches and chairs as arrows fly and axes swing under IDEA’s roof.

Retail Royale is being developed by DarxDev. The team is comprised of main developer Darx, 2D Artist Raflesia Art, and Music by Jabba DG. They hope to release the title in Early Access on Steam later this year in the third quarter. As aforementioned, you can playtest the game until more news comes about for Retail Royale.
