A woman in Illinois went viral after ordering a slice of carrot cake for $24 and later realizing why the dessert was priced so high once it arrived.
The woman shared that she was ordering food through DoorDash from Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse in Chicago. When she reached checkout, the app asked whether she wanted to add a slice of carrot cake to her order.
At first, the woman was shocked by the price of the carrot cake slice since it cost $24. Despite that, she decided to treat herself and add it to her DoorDash order. When the order arrived, it came in two bags, and she immediately noticed that one of them felt unusually heavy. After opening it, she realized why the slice of cake had been so expensive.
While filming the order, the woman showed the closed box containing the carrot cake slice. When she opened it, she realized it was far from a normal slice. Instead, it appeared to be nearly a quarter of an entire carrot cake. “This is for a family of 9,” she said in disbelief. The massive portion size shocked both her and many viewers online. Despite that, she joked that she still planned to finish it, saying she had plans with the cake for the “foreseeable future.”
Viewers Shocked After Illinois Woman Shows Cake Slice
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed shock after seeing the size of the carrot cake slice the Illinois woman ordered. “I GASPED when you opened the box hahahahahhahaha,” one person wrote. Others joked about how tempting the oversized dessert looked, with another commenter saying, “I’m allergic to carrots so really all I need is a fork, a private room, and an EpiPen.”
Several viewers also said the $24 price felt justified after seeing the massive dessert. “For $24 worth of cake and they gave you $24 worth of cake,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “this feels like winning the lottery as a carrot cake lover.” Others praised the restaurant’s desserts overall, with one person adding, “Gibson desserts are on another level you always get your moneys worth that’s for sure!”
The video sparked discussion about how some restaurants justify expensive menu prices by offering large portions and high-quality food. It also led to a conversation about how photos and descriptions on food delivery apps can sometimes be misleading compared to what customers actually receive.
