The hype train is slowly but surely chugging along as we get closer and closer to the anointed date of May 29th, 2020, which will be marked by the release of The Last Of Us Part II. People are getting pretty excited. As part of the marketing campaign designed to help maintain that level of interest, we have slowly started to get more and more info about the upcoming title. First, there was the release date trailer, which was quickly followed by press outlets getting hands-on time with the game. And now, as we get closer to the new release date, we have gotten a close look at a canceled animated film based around the first game. Or at least we did for a little while.
A few days ago, Oddfellows Content Agency posted a nice little expose about their canceled The Last Of Us film to their website. And then they promptly took it down. There doesn’t seem to be an apparent reason why as of now but, since the internet is forever, we still have the images that were posted as well as some of the details included with the original piece.
The film was to be a recap of the events of The Last Of Us featuring an even darker take on the type of style Oddfellows is known for and was going to end up being somewhere around 20 minutes in length. The film would not only depict all of the significant events of the first game, but it would likely add extra-canonical scenes to bridges the two games.
As of this writing, it is unknown why Sony decided to cancel this recap film and also unknown why the original article was taken down. It’s a real shame. It looked like it could have been incredibly cool. For more images of the canceled film, check out the Imgur gallery, here.
