Want to see a magic trick? Here are the tickets for IMAX previews for The Batman and…Poof! They’re gone. Fans of Batman showed their support by immediately selling out the upcoming IMAX previews for The Batman.
The upcoming film is directed by Matt Reeves and features Robert Pattinson stepping in as the caped crusader. The trailers have promised a dark, gritty, and brutal interpretation of the character and have certainly done their job of getting fans excited. The IMAX previews are taking place on March 1, 3 days before the nationwide release of The Batman on March 4. While everyone will have an opportunity to see this film in full IMAX glory, these previews will allow a select few who got tickets to see it in advance. “Be some of the first fans in the world to experience The Batman on the biggest screens possible,” the IMAX announcement for the previews read.
In addition, audiences that attend the preview will also receive a free comic book of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Batman: The Long Halloween #1, featuring an exclusive alternate cover inspired by The Batman. This is in line with the film as Reeves has spoken about how The Batman is inspired by comic book storylines like The Long Halloween and Batman: Year One. in an interview with GQ, Pattinson spoke about how the film will lean heavily into the detective themes associated with the character.
“I watched a rough cut of the movie by myself,” Pattinson said. “And the first shot is so jarring from any other Batman movie that it’s just kind of a totally different pace. It was what [filmmaker] Matt [Reeves] was saying from the first meeting I had with him: ‘I want to do a ’70s noir detective story, like The Conversation.’ And I kind of assumed that meant the mood board or something, the look of it. But from the first shot, it’s, ‘Oh, this actually is a detective story.’ And I feel like an idiot, because I didn’t even know that Batman was ‘the world’s greatest detective’; I hadn’t heard that in my life before-but it really plays. Just ’cause there’s a lot of stuff where he’s in amongst the cops.”
A Batman detective story should be fascinating as it’s never really been done in-depth on the big screen. The Batman also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffery Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
