Crafting Legends, the team behind the indie role-playing game Death Trash, announced a change in their update schedule today. Since Death Trash arrived in Early Access on Steam last year, it has received regular, weekly updates to its public build. That will soon change, as the developers explained in today’s announcement:
“From now on we’ll plan for monthly updates on the public branch, and we’ll keep the in between updates to a beta testing branch. These will probably continue to be on a weekly basis, but we’ll be less rigid with it. And when the monthly update is ready, we keep it a few more days on the beta branch for further testing until we know it’s solid enough for a public release.”
Crafting Legends attributed this change to a shift in focus. Earlier updates to Death Trash focused on the game’s overall quality, while future updates will add new content.
Death Trash is an isometric, post-apocalyptic role-playing game. According to the game’s Steam store page, it takes inspiration from old-school RPGs, as well as classic cyberpunk and horror, among other things. Death Trash has been in Early Access on Steam since August of 2021. An excerpt from the game’s page describes what players can expect from the title:
“Death Trash is an open-world, singleplayer role-playing game with handcrafted levels, a strong story campaign and optional local co-op gameplay.
The game features real-time gameplay with ranged and melee combat, stealth, multiple choice dialogue, an inventory of items and worms, a crafting system, and skills like pickpocketing and puking.”
In today’s announcement, Crafting Legends revealed that next month’s update would include new weapons and more locations to explore. The developers also asked their current players for assistance:
“For anyone playing the game for the first time we’ll recommend to just stick to the default branch. But if you played the game already and are returning to check out ongoing changes and want to help out with feedback and reporting bugs, please switch to the beta branch.”
In August of 2021, Crafting Legends announced that their indie role-playing game would also be making its way to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, although no official release date has been announced:
Since we're getting repeatedly asked about them:
Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch versions are all in development and looking good. They will be released alongside the finished PC versions.
Hopefully next year, but quality is more important than finishing earlier, so… pic.twitter.com/0a3OOevOFB
