Infinity Ward has announced that all proceeds from Modern Warfare’s Outback Relief Pack will go towards providing relief toward Australia’s devastating bushfires.
For the past two months, Australia has been devastated by bushfires. These fires have claimed the lives of at least 27 people including four firefighters and an estimated 10 million hectares of land have been burned. Infinity Ward, the developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, are helping the relief efforts. All proceeds of the ‘Outback Relief Pack’ will go towards providing relief to Australia.
The pack was originally introduced as the ‘Outback’ pack. It adds Australian themed cosmetic items. A post on Reddit introduced the idea that the proceeds should be donated which quickly picked up traction online. Infinity Ward heard the requests loud and clear and today announced that they will be donating the proceeds until January 31st. They said:
From everyone at Infinity Ward, Call of Duty and Activision, thank you for your consideration. Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected.
The Pack
The pack costs 1800 Call of Duty Points (the in-game currency) which is worth about $15. If you don’t have CoD points already, you must purchase 2,400 CoD points at once which is $19.99. Included with the pack is a new skin for operator D-Day called ‘bushranger.’ You also get a blueprint for the AX-50 sniper rifle, a koala weapon charm, a finishing move, and a battle pass tier skip.
Bungie, the developers of Destiny are joining Infinity Ward in helping in the efforts. They are selling a limited edition Destiny 2 t-shirt and donating the proceeds. Half of the money made will go towards Australia’s largest rescue organization, WIRES, and the rest to New South Wales’ fire service. The t-shirt will be on sale from the 16th of January. They are still working on the t-shirt’s design but a preview will be revealed soon.
