The Truth Lies Beyond the Shadows in Erica
The full-motion video (FMV) developer Flavourworks today announced that their narrative thriller Erica will be coming to PC. Plagued by the horrors of her father’s murder, Erica’s life suddenly flips into mystery and suspense. When new information comes to light, it’s up to her to dig up the facts. Unknown forces come at her, deception lurks around the corner, and the Delphi House entraps secrets.
Utilizing FMV development with sharp cinematography, Erica embraces the worlds of film and video gaming by infusing them together to tell a story. Every decision you make will have an impact on the game, with a variety of endings to conclude with. Also, Erica is scored by Austin Wintory, the award-winning composer behind titles such as Journey, Abzû, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and more. He is also already won some recognition for Erica at the 2020 Game Audio Network Guild Awards.
PS4 Launch Trailer
The PS4 launch trailer for Erica brings together a solid tease of anxiety. Some of the choices can be seen and snippets of psychological terror and our protagonist getting mixed in all of the madness.
Flavourworks formed back in 2015. They aim to create studio worthy experiences that really bring out the most in interactive video games. Erica is their title, and it was originally released for the PlayStation 4 on August 19, 2019. Eventually, it was no longer a Sony exclusive when the game launched for iOS earlier this year on January 14.
The game will be coming to PC via Steam on May 25, 2021. It’s being retailed at £9.99/$11.99/€9,99, with a 10% discount upon its release. Players can now wishlist the game through its Steam page. If you’ve played Erica before on either the PlayStation 4 or iOS, what did you think of it? FMV experiences can be a hit or a miss, so let me know what you think in the comments below.
