In a show of confidence, AMC has renewed Interview with the Vampire for season 2 ahead of its debut on the network and its streaming platform on October 2. The next outing will be for eight episodes in a European setting. Showrunner Rolin Jones (Perry Mason) will keep his position from the first season. He will executive produce as he had with continuing executive producer Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).
Like Talking Dead, the companion show for The Walking Dead, AMC will release a companion podcast for Interview with the Vampire. It will be hosted by Naomi Ekperigin (Mythic Quest) as she breaks down episodes with the cast and writers. The first episode is up wherever you get your podcasts.
Interview with the Vampire is already renewed by AMC for season 2
Based on Anne Rice’s debut novel of the same name that kick-started her legendary writing career and the Vampire Chronicles series, the AMC adaption of Interview with the Vampire will focus on this interview between a journalist and centuries-old vampire. The 1976 gothic horror novel was adapted in 1994 with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. The series is described to be a “sensuous” and “contemporary” adaption of the classic book.
The story of the first season of the AMC adaption of Interview with the Vampire will follow Louis de Pointe du Lac, played by Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), detailing his life to journalist Daniel Molloy, played by Eric Bogosian (Succession). The subject chronicles his life from his days as a human to how he became a vampire, which led to his relationship with fellow bloodsucker Lestat de Lioncourt, played by Sam Reid (The Newsreader).
The three leading actors are all set to return in the next outing of the series. Bailey Bass (Avatar: The Way of Water) will reprise her role, too, as a young vampire named Claudia. No date has been set for the show’s eventual return.
