Needless to say, a lot of teams had plenty to show off today during the opening day of Gamescom. The Destiny 2 team showed off their brand new expansion, The Witch Queen, Xbox went to town with Xbox Cloud Gaming, and so much more! One publisher who didn’t get too much time in the spotlight, but still holds a lot of value, is Humble Games. They had a heap of games to show off that are currently on their way to Game Pass. One title of which, and a very intriguing one at that, is Into the Pit by indie developer Nullpoint Games in collaboration with Humble Games. As actions speak louder than words, take a quick look at the gameplay trailer below!
As you can see, Into the Pit prioritizes magic over the traditional guns we know and love (to shoot). Using various spells coming straight from your magic-infused, rather grotesque-looking hands, you’ll take on foe after foe using deadly precision and surreal movement. As a huge fan of games where fast-paced combat is a mainstay, my hook to the title was this aspect by a long shot.
And with an intriguing story to wrap everything together, the title is sure to feel like it’s pulled straight out of the late 90s (minus some modern rendering techniques, of course). Humble Games describes Into the Pit as the following:
As members of a family of lore-hunting mystics, you and your cousin Luridia separately wander the land following rumors of occult power. After discovering a demonic pit in a nearby village, Luridia’s once prolific letters grow silent.”
If you wish, you can wishlist (ha, get it) the game over on Steam, with a planned release date of October 19, 2021. Will you journey forth into the pit? What announcement from Xbox’s Gamescom event are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments below.
