The Steam Deck has made owners think about what is playable on it after every major release, including recent games like Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4. While Blizzard’s ARPG needs some tinkering to make it work, we looked into Capcom’s fighter to see if it would work. Unlike the former, this one is available on Steam, so being tech-savvy is not required. Still, not every game is Verified or runs well enough to be viable on the handheld PC hybrid. We will break down if the latest Street Fighter works on the device and how you could get it to run on it, no matter your knowledge of the higher-tech concepts of the Deck.

Street Fighter 6 Being Playable on Steam Deck Explained

While the PC requirements can get demanding for Street Fighter 6, it does not hold back the Steam Deck. This means that you can play it on the device with relative ease. As Capcom has aimed to make this a gateway for newcomers, you can play it any way you want, even with Valve’s handheld gaming device. So much of that can be attributed to the RE Engine, which continues to show its power while making games run well on any platform, from Resident Evil to stylish fighters.

You can maintain 60 fps, but to make it easy on the hardware and yourself, you will want to turn down the settings. It does not support 800p, so 720p will be your best bet. By having that resolution, and your settings at least normal, then you should reach this frame rate. You might be able to get away with higher graphical effects, but if that worries you about your performance, then you can set that to normal or lower. Also, turn off Motion Blur, Screen Space Reflection, Ambient Occlusion, and Depth of Field. Yes, Capcom’s beautiful art style takes a dip, but for performance, it will be worth it. You can maintain beauty for PC or consoles.

In the fighting genre, similar to FPS, you want the highest and steadiest frame rate possible to ensure your victories. While Street Fighter 6 works well on Steam Deck, you are going to want to make sure you focus on frame rate rather than visual fidelity. Every second counts, so you will not want any stuttering on your end. Your opponent will take that to their advantage.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PS4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
