It’s ok, It’s ok, it’s…a hell of a first trailer for the upcoming psychological horror flick, It Comes at Night. From the studio known for its dramas (Krishna, Moonlight), A24 has the makings of a revolutionary horror film on its hands.
In an era dependent on jumps scares and supernatural elements to cause fright, It Comes at Night feels truly terrifying simply based on the ambiance. The teaser revealed little details in regards to the plot of the upcoming film, other than that a father will stop at nothing to protect his family from evil presence stalking their backwoods home.

From the eerie opening shot of the triumph of death – a painting by Pieter Bruegel depicting a horrific battlefield massacre – to the slow trudge down a hallway to the red door, the entire thing was incredibly tense. This trailer truly deserves its title as a teaser, as it was laced with different scenes throughout the movie without giving away the plot or even being able to place the sequence of each.
Though names and the roles they will play have yet to be named for a majority of the cast, It Comes at Night will star Joel Edgerton (Black Mass), Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), Christopher Abbott (A Most Violent Year), Kelvin Harrison Jr.(Birth of a Nation) and Carmen Ejogo (Selma).
While It Comes at Night might be the studio’s most prolific horror film to date, it’s certainly not their first. The studios 2014 film The Witch received praise for its eerie use of imagery and intense plot.
Written and directed by Trey Edward Shults, It Comes at Night is currently scheduled to be released on August 25, 2017. For more information be sure to check back to the site for all your movies and nerdy news!
