The Hellboy reboot, The Crooked Man, has found its leading star with Jack Kesy (Deadpool 2)., Giant Freakin Robot has reported. The latest stab at the comic book character from Hollywood will be directed by Brian Taylor (Crank). The creator of the comics, Mike Mignola, and his collaborator Chris Golden penned the script.
The upcoming Hellboy movie with Jack Kesy will see the titular character in 1950s Appalachia with a BPRD (Bureau for Paranormal Research Defense) agent. They discover a town ruled by witches with a devilish leader, who the lead knows from his past as The Crooked Man. Production will begin later this year.
Other casting is currently in the works.

The latest live-action take on the character is the third iteration. Previously, Ron Perlman starred as the Cambion (half-human, half-demon) in the Guillermo del Toro films. After years without seeing the character on the big screen after the 2004 and 2008 movies, David Harbour took on the role in 2019, which bombed at the box office and was received poorly.
Jack Kesy has not had many roles, but Hellboy will add to his varied career. For film, he is best known for Baywatch, Deadpool 2, and 12 Strong. For TV, he is best known for The Strain and Claws. He recently starred in the action thriller The Weapon. Upcoming projects for him include Way of the Warriors, Murder at the Hollow Creek, Sheroes, The Killer, and Vronika.
The IP is in shaky shape after the film led by Harbour. Millennium is hoping to give it a breath of fresh air, even though the last film was only a few years ago. It will be seen how it performs as the 2019 film faced people still yearning for Perlman. Like any iconic character, like Batman or Spider-Man, a new actor taking on the role always opens the door for scrutiny by fans.
