The final batch of Spiritfarer post-launch content arrives next week in the shape of the Jackie & Daria Update. Free, as has been every update since Spiritfarer launched to critical acclaim last year, the Jackie & Daria Update is set to go live on all platforms on December 13.
Described as the biggest Spiritfarer content drop to date, the Jackie & Daria Update packages in a brand new island housing a run-down hospital to explore. Players can also look forward to meeting the two new titular spirits, the caretaker/patient duo of Jackie and Daria, both in need of protagonist Stella’s help. Alongside, the update adds a new event, ferry upgrades, and more.
We don’t know the full extent of what’s in store in the Jackie & Daria Update as developer Thunder Lotus is keeping things close to the chest for now. But, the team has been kind enough to cook up a new trailer to accompany the release date announcement. We get a glimpse of the dilapidated hospital, the latest spirits, and a colorful, swirling platforming section. Watch it just below.
Jackie & Daria – Final Spiritfarer Update
While those of us partial to Spiritfarer‘s moving journey welcome the new update with open arms, it will be a bitter-sweet release. It marks the final update to the ‘cozy management game about dying.’ As Spiritfarer creative director Nicolas Guérin explains in a press release published today:
We’ve saved the best for last! The team was unanimous in their desire to make the game’s final update something special, and I feel they’ve really pulled out all the stops here. The Jackie & Daria Update is a lovely curtain call for Spiritfarer as well as a great show of gratitude to the fans who’ve supported us since the day we announced the project. We hope they enjoy taking one final voyage with us!”
Spiritfarer‘s Jackie & Daria Update launches for PC via Steam/Epic Games Store/GOG.com, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia on December 13.
