It seems the Fast and Furious franchise is expanding even further into DC territory. The Rock has decided he had enough after his last ride and will now focus on Black Adam. But to take his place may be Aquaman himself. Jason Momoa is currently in final talks with Universal to portray the villain for Fast and Furious 10. This would put him opposite Vin Diesel in a major clash between icons. Funnily enough, Diesel plays one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot. So in a way, we’ve got a Marvel vs. DC showdown in our next speed-filled family thriller.
How Will Momoa Handle The Villain Role?
In light of the news, some people wonder how Jason Momoa will do as the Fast and Furious villain. After all, he’s been the hero in the majority of his recent movies. His only compelling villain role was as Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. Momoa has gone on record that he didn’t enjoy the role, though, so villainy may not be his style. Then again, the role of Drogo was a character meant to be despised, so it’s understandable why Momoa disliked it. Maybe he can be a little more comfortable with a movie like Fast and Furious 10. As long as he’s got the time to work around Aquaman’s rising popularity, he could do great.
With a more diverse role in mind, Momoa may be able to shine as a villain. The Fast and Furious franchise is well known for its Point Break-style racing feats. Momoa’s depiction of Aquaman provides a more modern, gritty renegade version of Arthur Curry. That gritty renegade feel is perfect for a Fast and Furious character or even a villain. To top it off, he’s even a bit of a gearhead in real life. Since Fast 10 is expected to be the saga’s finale, he’s got some big shoes to fill.
