Supergirl is ending, but at least one character isn’t gone forever. Jenna Dewan will reprise her role as Lucy Lane in Superman & Lois during the second season. Dewan first appeared as Lois Lane’s sister Lucy in the very first season of Supergirl, while the show was still on CBS before it was moved to The CW’s Arrowverse. The Hollywood Reporter says that she will play the character again in a recurring role on Superman & Lois.
The Wrap reports that in her original appearance, Lucy Lane was a JAG lawyer who formerly had a relationship with Jimmy Olsen (Mechad Brooks). Dewan only portrayed Lucy for one season of Supergirl, a show that will air its series finale on November 9.
Superman & Lois, which premiered this year, is the latest entry into The CW’s Arrowverse franchise, which also currently consists of The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman. Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane are portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch respectively. Like Dewan’s Lucy Lane, Hoechlin made his debut as Superman on Supergirl.
The show has received praise for high production values, great performances, a family dynamic, and an all-around different feel from the rest of the Arrowverse. It follows Clark Kent and Lois Lane raising their teenage sons, one of whom they realize has superpowers like his father. The show’s family dynamic is one of its most fascinating features, so having Aunt Lucy show up is sure to make things interesting.
Dewan will be the second Arrowverse star to appear on Superman & Lois. David Ramsey appeared as John Diggle in the first season. It will also be the first time we see the Lane sisters together.
