Jessica Jones is no stranger to being under arrest. Not only did she end the first season in custody, she also spent a good bit of time in cuffs in The Defenders. But what did she do to land herself in trouble in season two?
In the most recently released images, Netflix gave us a glimpse of what is to come for Jessica Jones’ sophomore season. While the six images show off the supporting cast of Trish, Will, and Hogarth, the most interesting one is the final picture.
As is a well know right granted to most prisoners, one of the promotional pictures features Jessica on her “one phone call.” The brooding P.I is fully chained, head to toe in handcuffs, with an officer cautiously grasping her gun on the edge of its holster behind her.
According to the official synopsis, released by Digital Spy a little over a month ago, Jones runs into trouble whilst looking into her past. The synopsis states the following:
“New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.”
Season one revealed that her superhuman abilities were no accident. Rather it was the result of experimental testing, similar to that of what Kilgrave and Luke Cage were subjected to. The first season tied the drugs used in the testing to a company known as IGH.
Does that acronym sound familiar? That’s because the earlier seasons of one of Marvel’s other flagship series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, focused heavily on similar GH drugs. These drugs, created from the biology of Guardian of the Galaxy species known as The Kree, granted all kinds of abilities, including superhuman strength.
It’ll be interesting to see how heavily the next season of Jessica Jones ties together with not only Marvel’s Netflix four (The Defenders), but the rest of the Marvel Universe as well.
