Today may be April Fool’s Day, but some sad news has come for the comedic movie sphere. Legendary actor Jim Carrey has been well known for many different movies throughout his career. From children’s movies like Mr. Popper’s Penguins to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the actor has made a huge mark on the industry. He’s even made himself a lovely home among the Sonic franchise as live-action Robotnik/Eggman. However, it seems that all good things must come to an end. Jim Carrey has announced that he feels now is the time for a potential retirement from acting. With so much under his belt, he feels satisfied.
Carrey Has a Legacy That’s Hard to Follow
If you were to mention the name Jim Carrey to anyone, they’d likely be able to tell you their favorite movie starring him. After all, he has a laundry list of iconic movies to choose from! It would be no understatement to say that the last 30 years of his work have had a major influence on generations of comedy or acting. His ability to method act is impressive, to say the least. Hence why roles like Robotnik in Sonic 2 work so well. Sadly, this may be Jim Carrey’s last official role before this potential retirement from acting begins.
Jim Carrey has always been known as a class act. Therefore, he doesn’t want to overstay his welcome. He claims that he feels like he’s done enough and has no need to continue. If an incredible movie/script is brought to him in the future, that may change. Either way, he will stay the kind and irreverent man he is. That much is evident from his position on Paul Dano’s take on The Riddler from The Batman. Hopefully, Carrey doesn’t leave the limelight too soon, so we can all enjoy his presence a bit more.
