We are sad to report that actor John Reilly has recently passed away. The widely-lauded soap opera actor, whose cause of death is currently unknown to the general public, died at the age of 86. His death was announced by his daughter and TikTokker, Caitlin Reilly.
She wrote:
John Henry Matthew Reilly, aka Jack. The brightest light in the world has gone out. Imagine the best person in the world. Now imagine that person being your dad. I’m so grateful he was mine. I’m so grateful I got to love him. I’m so grateful I made it in time to hold him and say goodbye. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know he’ll be with me. I love you forever Daddy.”
Although initial reports claim he died at 84, Caitlin Reilly clarified on Twitter that John Reilly actually passed away at 86. This means that the birthdate on his Wikipedia page is inaccurate.
John Reilly is perhaps most well known for playing big roles in the long-running soap General Hospital where he played Sean Donnelly from 1984 to 1995. He would then reprise the role in 2008 and 2013 in a couple of guest appearances. John Reilly also guested in a number of other big TV shows such as Dallas, Beverly Hills 90210, and Days of our Lives.
For kids growing up in the ’90s however, he’ll mostly be recognized as the voice of Hawkeye in the Iron Man cartoon. Said show ran from 1994 to 1996, with Reilly’s character having a major supporting role. He was the second voice actor to portray Hawkeye, with Chris Wiggins preceding him in the 1966 show The Marvel Superheroes.
