Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9 Jojolands: What We Know So Far
Jojolands is the tentative name given to part 9 of the popular Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise by author Hirohiko Araki, which began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1986 with the release of Part 1: Phantom Blood.
The various “parts” of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure are intended to break the series’s story into various segments that each focus on a different protagonist in the Joestar bloodline, the succeeding one often being a descendant of the previous one. The series has so far been divided into 8 distinct parts: Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, Golden Wind, Stone Ocean, Steel Ball Run, and Jojolion.
The latest part, Jojolion, ended on August 19, 2021, and was the longest-running part overall, having begun serialization in December 2011. Araki first teased Jojolands as the 9th part of the series shortly after the conclusion of Jojolion in the September 2021 issue of Ultra Jump.
“Thank you very much for these past 10 years of” JoJolion”! Let’s take a bit of a rest, and then meet again with the new “JOJOLANDS” (tentative),” Araki published in a statement.
Not much is known at that time on the story details of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9 other than the fact that it takes place in the same continuity as parts 7 and 8. Steel Ball Run and Jojolion actually take place in a separate continuity from the first six parts, with characters that simply reference those from previous parts.
However, they are classified as parts 7 and 8 due to both being published after the conclusion of part 6, Stone Ocean, and generally being regarded as a step forward for the series.
All that is known so far is that the protagonist of Jojolands will likely be a descendent of Steel Ball Run continuity’s equivalent to the protagonist of part 2, Joseph Joestar, according to a recent Araki interview.
In other recent Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure news, Netflix officially released the final batch of episodes for the anime adaption f part 6, Stone Ocean, which is currently available to view on Netflix along with all of the other previous parts. At this time, any information on when or if parts 7 and 8 will be adapted as well is unknown.
