It looks like the cast for Matt Reeves’ The Batman is starting to come together. Multiple reports have come in stating that Jonah Hill (21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street) and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, Quantum of Solace) are in discussions to join the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeffrey Wright is in talks to play Commissioner Jim Gordon in The Batman alongside Robert Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight. Wright is best known these days for his work on the hit HBO series Westworld but he’ll also be the narrator in the upcoming What If? series from Marvel that’ll air on Disney+.
This wasn’t the only news to drop today as Deadline is reporting that Jonah Hill is also in negotiations to join The Batman in an undisclosed role. Sources later told Variety that Hill had been looked at for a role in The Batman for some time now but the studio wanted to wait until they cast their Caped Crusader before engaging in any more casting decisions. It was also said that this deal is still on-going and could potentially fall apart but both sides seem to be interested in making this happen.
Jonah Hill has made his mark in comedy with the 21 Jump Street series but he is no stranger to DC Comics. The actor has provided some voice-over work in the Lego Batman movies as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.
It’ll be interesting to see how much of a role Hill will have in The Batman if he ends up agreeing to a deal. Like many fans have already said on Twitter, The Penguin would be a great role for Hill. However, it turns out that Hill may be up for another part. Collider has just reported that Hill is up for the part of Edward Nygma/The Riddler.
The Batman is currently set to hit theaters on June 25th, 2021.
