As reported by Crunchyroll earlier this week, one of the most popular anime of the past year is getting a movie. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will release later this year and is set to take place before the events of the anime.
The Jujutsu Kaisen film was announced after the first season finale in an extremely short trailer. While the trailer is short on details, Studio MAPPA announced that the film will follow the plot of a prequel issue of the manga. It will revolve around some familiar faces along with a new character, Yuta Okkotsu.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a new shonen that took the anime world by storm:
Itadori Yuuji is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Gojou Satoru, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School, an organization that fights the curses…and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
According to Studio MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is set to release sometime this winter, but there is no official release date as of this writing. In the meantime, the whole first season of Jujutsu Kaisen is available now for streaming on Crunchyroll and HBO Max.
