After seeing Julia Louis-Dreyfus three times in the MCU, she is ready for action scenes when she stars in Thunderbolts. In an interview with Variety, the Seinfeld and Veep star revealed that she wants her character to fight like her co-stars Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, and the rest of the ensemble.
So far, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been building up to Thunderbolts by pulling strings that we are not always seeing in the MCU. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the Director of the CIA. She has aimed Yelena (Pugh) at Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in Black Widow, leading to the character’s Disney+ series. She has also been meddling in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and, most recently, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The anti-hero team-up movie will see what she is up to and whether she is a true ally or villain to our beloved heroes.
The Veep star has had some say in her character through the few times we have seen her. She already convinced Marvel to give her a purple streak in her hair rather than a white one from the comics. She has also pitched the idea of Valentina fighting people.
“I pitched it; I told them I really want to fight. I haven’t seen the script yet – we’ll see if that happens,” she said, then thought about the demand from a Marvel movie for its actors. “Ugh. I guess I’d better get in shape.”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus pitched to get action scenes in Thunderbolts
In classic Marvel fashion, not much is known about the film. It will surely be a pinnacle film as it concludes Phase 5 of the MCU, which begins next month with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Among the already mentioned stars, it will also feature Harrison Ford, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, and Wyatt Russell.
After years of being a TV star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be getting the blockbuster treatment with Thunderbolts. The film will be directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns), with the script being written by Kurt Busiek (Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2) and Eric Pearson (Black Widow). It will begin filming this year and be due in theaters on July 26, 2024.
