Bandai Namco set us up with a welcome surprise. As the roster of Tekken 8 characters is neatly wrapping up, we got another surprise character. Lo and behold, Tekken 8 will have Jun Kazama. She’s been missing from the canon franchise ever since her debut in Tekken 2. Non-Canon spin-off movies and the Tekken Bloodline adaptation depicted her apparent death, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Why is Jun Kazama in Tekken 8?
It was revealed today through Bandai Namco’s official Youtube channel that Jun Kazama is making a return today in her new gameplay trailer. She’s made some appearances in past entries, such as Tekken Tag 1 and Tekken Tag 2 but had been missing from the franchise since her canon debut in Tekken 2.
To the surprise of the Tekken community and to Tekken’s main antagonist, Kazuya, she’s alive. Her disappearance from the franchise was led by loads of speculation, rumors, and mystery. Her repeated demise is portrayed in spin-off movies and the latest Netflix Tekken Bloodline show.
Jun hones her iconic elegant look but in silk this time. She’s got some impressive Heat Smashes, to say the least. And her final Rage Art seems less offensive than what we’ve seen in the franchise.
Players were earlier introduced to characters the likes of Lars, Nina, King, Jin, Paul, Kazuya, and Marshal Law. But it appears Heihachi is missing from the title, considering his demise at the end of Tekken 7. But intuition points in the direction of Heihachi making a return as the next revealed character in the coming days.
So, what do you think of Jun Kazama making a return in Tekken 8? Will her Kazama style stand formidable against the destructive electric Mishima arts? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned for more Tekken 8 updates on the NerdStash.
