Executives behind the streaming service Peacock have officially announced that Jurassic World: Dominion and its extra-large extended cut are set for release in early September. The film’s streaming release comes three months after its theatrical release on June 10th, and in addition to the movie, the all-new extended cut gives fans a look at behind-the-scenes footage and an original short film.
Jurassic World: Dominion, the final installment in the second Jurassic trilogy and billed as the “epic conclusion to the Jurassic era,” features two generations of Jurassic stars – including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard from the second trilogy joined by Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill from the original Jurassic Park trilogy – team up in the ultimate test. According to the official film synopsis, Jurassic World: Dominion takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nubar in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). With the dinosaur park destroyed, the dinosaurs are now free to live (and hunt) all around the world, a delicate balancing act that leads to the ultimate test of “whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.”
With a 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the general reception for Jurassic World: Dominion seems to be positive, leading to Peacock announcing a September 2nd release date for both the movie and the new extended cut. Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to promote the extended cut yesterday, saying that “Mark Sanger is a fantastic editor. Thanks to @UniversalPics his original and complete cut is now out there for all to see. I keep saying how grateful I am — you have no idea.”

What to Expect from the Jurassic World: Dominion Extended Cut
With the runtime of the Jurassic World: Dominion extended cut being a whole fourteen minutes longer than the original film’s two-hour twenty-six-minute runtime, fans of the original film are on the edge of their seats for information regarding the details of the extended content. According to TVLine, the Jurassic World: Dominion extended cut includes an alternate opening to the film, 14 extra minutes of the film, behind-the-scenes content on the making of the movie itself, and an original short film entitled Battle at Big Rock, among other things.
Jurassic World: Dominion starring Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and others, will be available for streaming on Peacock starting September 2nd, 2022. Deadline reports that the original Jurassic Park trilogy will also be available on the service starting September 1st.
