If there’s one activity we often find fictional superheroes doing most in their spare time, it is bashing, thrashing, and beating the living daylights out of every possible historical variation of German Nazis. In the new feature-length animated film Justice Society: World War II, our Golden Age team of DC Super Heroes find themselves doing just that. Known as The Justice Society of America, Wonder Woman leads our superhuman crew in a raging battle against the Nazi army. While they began as a company of five, Flash (Barry Allen) has become caught in the picture, his supernatural speed tearing apart time itself and hurling him back in time to World War II.Â
In a clip released by Warner Bros. Entertainment, fighter pilot Steve Trevor swoops in from above to save the Justice Society from an aerial assault. However, there’s no time for respite with an unexpected Nazi counterattack flanking Steve and shooting him down from the sky. Hawkman immediately takes flight and soars after the fuming smoke trail to rescue Captain Trevor from a devastating plane crash. Yet, he isn’t fast enough to catch up, so both Barry Allen and Jay Garrick must “double dash” into action to save their ally from peril.
Justice Society: WWII is available now via digital platforms and in 4K Combo Pack and Blu-ray on May 11. Directed by Jeff Wamester, it marks the 41st entry in the DC Universe Animated series. The movie features the voices of Chris Diamantopoulos (Steve Trevor), Matt Bomer (The Flash/Barry Allen), Armen Taylor (The Flash/Jay Garrick), Stana Katic (Wonder Woman), Elysia Rotaru (Black Canary), and Omid Abtahi (Hawkman).Â
Here’s a brief overview of the movie, courtesy of WB Entertainment:
Barry Allen’s relaxing trip to Metropolis is about to go sideways. It’s here that The Flash meets Wonder Woman and her top secret team, known as the Justice Society of America. Witness the raging tides of war, gripping combat and the velocity of valor as The Flash fights to get back to his own timeline!”
