The latest character reveal for Street Fighter V is the pampered schoolgirl, Karin. Her only appearance in the series came in Street Fighter Alpha 3, which came out in 1998. Even with just the one game to her credit, Karin was an often requested character. According to a poll Capcom ran back in April, Karin was the 7th most asked-for character. According to Peter “Combofiend” Rosas, Capcom’s Community Manager, she was the most requested character in Japan for Street Fighter V, which would indicate why she was revealed at the Tokyo Game Show. Check out her reveal trailer below to see her in action:
In the same blog post that introduces Karin, Peter Rosas also goes into a bit of detail about the Capcom Fighters Network. He describes it as a “community building tool” that will be built into the game from launch. It will be a stat tracker, and not just wins and losses. It will track how many of each type of moves you use, how many throws you tech, etc. It will also be used to find groups of players throughout the world, challenge friends and rivals, and watch replays of high-profile matches. Overall, it sounds like just the thing to make sure you get your dose of Street Fighter V whenever you need it.
