While filming Lee in Croatia, Kate Winslet was hospitalized after falling on set. A representative told Deadline that she slipped and was taken to the hospital “as a precautionary measure.” It is said that she is okay and will resume production on the film later this week.
A slip and fall that led to her being hospitalized will not stop Kate Winslet. The Oscar-winner has been attached to the World War II film since 2015, and she will lead and produce the film. The historical drama follows Elizabeth “Lee” Miller, a fashion model-turner-war correspondent for Vogue magazine, who helped expose the atrocities of Nazi Germany. The Titanic star plays the photographer with supporting cast members Jude Law, Andy Samberg, Josh O’Connor (The Crown), Andrea Riseborough (Birdman), Marion Cotillard (Dolittle), and James Murray (The Crown). Cinematographer turned director with documentaries and TV. Ellen Kuras, known for Ozark and The Umbrella Academy, is directing the film.

Production had been going for Lee for several weeks before Kate Winslet was hospitalized. No specific release date has been given but it will release sometime in 2023. In the meantime, the star will be seen in the long-awaited and highly anticipated Avatar: The Way of Water, the sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 movie, Avatar. Next year, she will also star in Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin with Elliot Page, Gerard Butler, and Megan Fox.
Last year when the rest of the cast was announced, the Mare of Easttown star told Deadline that this “is absolutely not a biopic.” To do that, she said it would take “a series worth for HBO.” Rather than covering Miller’s whole life, the film’s focus would take place between 1938-48, the “most interesting decade in her life” that “defined” her to cement herself as an important person for the allied front.
