Of all the stars to make a huge comeback lately, Keanu Reeves is one of the biggest. After wild success in the 90s and early 2000s, he fell off from acting for a while. However, starting with the success of the still-running John Wick franchise, he made his comeback. Since then, he’s made it back into the spotlight as America’s sweetheart. With cameos in Cyberpunk 2077 and the second Spongebob movie, his audience grew. And this holiday season, he even helped bring back The Matrix. With his career alive and well, many people have been wondering: will Keanu Reeves join the MCU ensemble cast? Well, Keanu Reeves has officially confirmed that he is in talks with Kevin Feige at this time.
Where Could Keanu’s Place Be in the MCU?
Fans have been wanting Keanu Reeves to join the MCU for years now. In fact, due to Marvel’s secrecy about casting, rumors have abounded for Reeves’ involvement in multiple movies. At one point he was highly rumored to be cast as Adam Warlock, which ended up being given to Will Poulter. He was also expected to play Moon Knight at one point, which similarly was instead given to Oscar Isaac. Even now, people theorize he may take up the mantle of Silver Surfer, Nova, or Ghost Rider. In usual fashion, Kevin Feige is being tight-lipped about any roles Keanu Reeves might get.
But when considering roles for Reeves, it’s good to also consider his own opinion. He’s recently gone on record that he would love to revive Constantine more than participate in any Marvel film. That said, he’s stated he would love to play Wolverine once that comes back around. Otherwise, according to Feige at least, he’s surprisingly picky. Reeves turned down the role of Yon Rogg in Captain Marvel and has been approached regularly with roles. It seems Reeves wants to play just the right kind of character when he eventually does join.
