CBR recently revealed the cover art and synopsis for X-Force #41, which features the return of Kid Omega with a whole new look. This time around, Quentin Quire is less of a kid and more an old man, thanks to some aging. Do we have to call him Old Man Omega now?
What Happened to Kid Omega?
The last time we saw Quentin Quire, AKA Kid Omega, was issue #29 of Benjamin Percy and Robert Gill’s X-Force. As Percy explains, the last time we saw the mutant, over a year ago, “he had sacrificed himself to save his fellow mutants from the threat of Cerebrax.” Remember Cerebrax, that sentient version of Cerebro that was gobbling up the minds and powers of mutants all over? Well, Kid Omega seemingly sacrificed himself to stop the entity and vanished forever…until now.
Percy continues discussing Kid Omega, who has been “gone a lot longer than a year, as the beard and bald head and bent back reveal.” While Kid Omega is aptly named for his tantrums and immaturity, this new version is a complete mystery. After all, being on a mission for so long may see a new personality emerge in the omega level mutant.
A Whole New (Old) Mutant
Joshua Cassara’s cover art for X-Force #41 gives us our first look at the new Kid Omega. Flanked by the members of X-Force, including Colossus, Wolverine, Domino, DeadPool, and Omega Red, the old man appears to be firing off a telekinetic pink gun into the air. Adorned in a leather suit, the new Omega features a psychic cane, psychic glasses, and a long pink beard.
Of course, depending on how things play out, Old Man Omega may not be an old man for long. If the team can get him to the Krakoan resurrection pods, Kid Omega could be…well, a kid once again. Sadly, we will have to wait until June 21, when X-Force #41 releases.
