Back in June, Studio Trigger and Arc System Works revealed that they’d be collaborating on a new video game based on Trigger’s series, Kill la Kill. The game unveiled its first trailer at Anime Expo, the following month. The trailer detailed the game’s release as including PS4 and PC. However, there was no mention of the Nintendo Switch. That is until now. Arc System Works announced at ArcRevo Japan 2018 that, yes, Kill la Kill the Game -If- would be on the massively popular Nintendo console. It makes sense, considering that Arc System Works also worked on the highly successful Dragon Ball FighterZ, which also came to the Nintendo Switch a bit after its initial release.
That wasn’t the only thing announced, though. The event also announced two more playable characters – Ragyō Kiryūin and Nui Harime – the two central antagonists of the series, more or less. They join an ever-expanding cast of characters, including Ira Gamagōri, Uzu Sanageyama, Nonon Jakuzure, and Houka Inumuta. This is on top of Ryuko and Satsuki, the latter of which acts as the game’s protagonist.
The event didn’t note a few key details, however. Most importantly, it said nothing about when this Switch version would release. Dragon Ball FighterZ got a Switch port after being out for some time. However, this Kill la Kill game isn’t out yet. So it’s possible the Switch version could come at the same time. For now, there’s no concrete release date. The game launches next year. In that time, it’s likely to get a handful of events, revealing more characters. Kill la Kill has no shortage of them to choose from. The Dragon Ball FighterZ port went surprisingly well. So many fans may be perfectly content to wait, in the interest of getting another port done to that quality, rather than something rushed.
