Killing Eve first debuted in 2018, where it immediately ignited a strong following and indomitable reputation. The BBC crime thriller follows Eve Polastri, an MI6 Agent who yearns for more excitement in her mundane life. Unexpectedly, Eve is assigned the task of tracking down Villanelle, a skillful assassin. Killing Eve quickly became one of the most popular television shows, with viewers praising its dynamic approach and strong cast of characters. As such, each character presents their own unique set of abilities that viewers can’t get enough of. Truthfully, each individual character is significant in their own way. Here’s a list to help you understand what your favorite Killing Eve character says about you.
Bill – Wise and Humorous
Despite Bill only lasting for the series’ first three episodes, he left a hugely memorable mark on fans. Bill is first introduced as Eve’s co-worker and best friend, and the pair were a beloved duo for their honesty and constant laughs. In a short amount of time, Bill quickly became one of the series’ most favored characters.
As seen in interactions with Eve, Bill’s wisdom shines as a beacon of light and helps to steer Eve in the right direction. Furthermore, his irrefutable humor never ceases to make Eve (and the fans) fall in love with him. These characteristics make it obvious to why Killing Eve fans would want to identify with him.
Elena – Headstrong and Smart
Arguably, Elena is one of the strongest characters in the first season of Killing Eve. Immediately, Elena proves that she has a heart of gold, especially after the tragic death of Bill. However, it’s her smart approach to difficult obstacles that resonated so well with fans everywhere.
Even though Elena doesn’t return for the show’s second and third seasons, her unforgettable presence leaves something to be desired in the later seasons. Her headstrong perspective on the world keeps her out of any actual danger, while her brilliance allows her to make smart decisions. It’s no wonder that fans (and Kenny) absolutely adored her.
Geraldine – Proud and Strong
For reasons unknown, Geraldine gets an incredibly bad rap. Introduced in the first episode of the third season, Geraldine is the sister of Kenny, and the daughter of Carolyn. Despite her mother’s continual dismissal, Geraldine is extremely proud of her family. She’s especially proud of Kenny, who unfortunately passes away, leaving her with tons of questions.
While Geraldine might not be many fans’ favorite Killing Eve character, her story arc is essentially important to the characters of Carolyn and Kenny. While grieving for her brother, Geraldine remains strong for her mother, who isn’t showing emotion as easily as her daughter is. As such, it’s understandable for even some fans to identify with Geraldine’s raw, organic emotion.
Niko – Caring and Vulnerable
Much like Geraldine, Niko Polastri receives more hate than he actually should. Niko is the devoted husband of Eve Polastri, though he’s constantly tossed aside for Eve’s obsession with Villanelle. As such, his character carries a particular vulnerability that makes him more likable to viewers than expected.
To add, Niko is also an extremely caring person, especially when it comes to his wife. While Eve constantly lies about her whereabouts and job details, Niko continues to support her and stand by her side through it all. However, some fans still dislike him for the simple fact that he stands between the cat-and-mouse love story of Eve and Villanelle. Still, his redeeming qualities are why many fans continue to identify with him.
Kenny – Talented and Loving
As the brains of the show, Kenny is a highly talented individual. According to his mother, he “lives on the internet.” Kenny is typically seen assisting Eve Polastri and her team with firewalls and databases that are tricky to hack into. With a particular skill of using the entire web to his advantage, there isn’t anything that Kenny can’t hack.
Internet intelligence aside, Kenny is a very caring person. Kenny shows this quality specifically when it comes to Eve and his mother, Carolyn. In a season 2 scene, Kenny insists that a mission is “too dangerous” and fears that Eve will get hurt. He also shows his loving side when it comes to his crush on fellow colleague, Elena. His good-hearted nature and internet skills make it obvious why fans safely select him as their favorite.
Dasha – Ruthless and Competitive
Dasha is undoubtedly one of Killing Eve’s biggest villains. As such, her ruthless demeanor often shines during her meetings with Villanelle in the third season. Dasha is introduced as one of Villanelle’s original trainers for The Twelve, and she continues to work as her handler in the most ruthless of ways.
Cold and competitive, the opening scene of Killing Eve season 3 shows a young, gymnast Dasha completing her routine. After, she kills her lover and personalizes her kill. Dasha performed such an act to set herself apart from fellow assassins. As such, this shows her true competitive nature and desire to be the best at what she does. Despite her awful qualities, her intelligence and manipulation make her a fun character to identify with. After all, rooting for the bad guys can be fun.
Konstantin – Mysterious and Reserved
Konstantin has had Killing Eve fans falling in love with his laugh since the very first episode. However, he’s quite reserved when it comes to understanding what he’s feeling at any particular moment. First introduced as Villanelle’s handler, his tactics bounce back and forth between pure manipulation and genuine concern.
Despite fans knowing enough information about Konstantin, his aura is rather mysterious. Not much is actually known about him, except for his delinquent daughter, Irina, and his wife. Konstantin has his own intentions in mind and will do what he can to get what he wants. Still, his mystery leaves fans wanting to know more about his backstory. Nevertheless, he’s a known Killing Eve favorite, and many fans identify with his laid-back nature.
Carolyn – Poised and Powerful
As one of the most complex characters in the show, it’s not hard to understand why many fans would select Carolyn as their favorite. Carolyn is an extreme workaholic with her priorities focused completely on her work. Carolyn first hires Eve Polastri to track down a female assassin, eventually revealed to be Villanelle.
Carolyn’s tactics are extremely poised, and she always takes an extra step to prevent failure. Still, her careful movements and decisions make her a powerful figure in the Killing Eve world. Her limitations exceed the realm of right and wrong, and she constantly pushes the legal button when attempting to get what she wants. When it comes to impressive qualities, she’s near the top of the list, and rightfully so.
Eve – Outspoken and Sharp
As the titular character of the show, Eve is the central focus of the popular crime drama. Once she’s handed the assignment of tracking Villanelle, Eve begins to struggle between her work and personal life. As such, her outspoken personality often lands her in trouble. However, her strategic maneuvers and brilliant moments further her forthright responses.
To add, Eve is one of the sharpest characters in the show. While she can sometimes appear as naive, she thinks outside of the box when it comes to accomplishing milestones within her work. The unfolding of her layers includes her deepened tendencies equal to Villanelle, though she doesn’t easily show them. Her determination to show everyone the power she secretly holds and her sharp individuality makes it easy to see why fans identify strongly with her. As such, she is one of the most favorite characters on Killing Eve.
Villanelle – Impulsive and Brilliant
Villanelle is one of fans’ favorite Killing Eve characters. Many fans adhere to Villanelle’s appealing personality and lavish lifestyle. As such, her straightforward impulsiveness shines in many of her interactions throughout the seasons. From the very first episode, Villanelle is seen as a charismatic, impulsive assassin who’s very good at what she does.
Along with her other fascinating qualities, Villanelle’s brilliant mind is one of her best characteristics. Even when Villanelle lands herself in troubling situations, she somehow always finds her way out of it. While her brilliance teeters upon psychopathy, her strong intuitions make it obvious as to why she was so sought after by The Twelve organization.
