According to the star, she experienced a wardrobe malfunction at the time, moments before taking the stage to present James Coburn with his award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Affliction.
Taking to Instagram, Kim shared photos of herself from the iconic 1999 Oscars. One of them showed her on the red carpet, while the other showed the Hollywood icon presenting the coveted award to the late actor James Coburn. Via the caption, she recounted the memorable tales behind the pictures, saying:
“I stood behind the -story spinning Oscar while a guy bent down, headset on, and counted down from 10 on his fingers, looking at me. At about 5, I heard something in the back of my white floor-length Randolph Duke gon POP.”
While she managed to avert the embarrassing ordeal by holding on tight to her strapless Randolph Duke gown as she mounted the stage, the star realized celebrities do not always have that streak of luck. “Don’t ever forget… most of the time, these people are sewn into their gowns moments before hitting the red carpet… The #1 fear: You’ll fall down. #2: The stitches won’t hold!”
