Talk show hosts are turning the media’s pain into the public’s pleasure. Numerous late-night hosts are sounding off on the abrupt removals of Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon from their respective networks. Early Monday morning, Fox News announced that Carlson was no longer a part of the network. Numerous sources, including the Los Angeles Times, report that Tucker Carlson was fired, meaning all three major news networks have fired him after his past stints at CNN and MSNBC. Lemon verified his firing via Twitter. The late-night hosts are sounding off with both network news hosts out of their jobs.
Late-Night Hosts Roast Tucker Carlson
Tucker Carlson was the main target of late-night hosts’ monologues. Jimmy Fallon’s said in his monologue on The Tonight Show, “It’s easy to make jokes about Tucker being gone, but now who’s gonna tell me which M&M is most woke.”
Jimmy Kimmel said of Tucker Carlson’s firing, “They say Rupert Murdoch made this decision himself. This is more like an episode of Succession than last night’s episode of Succession.”
Seth Meyers spent much of his “A Closer Look” segment making fun of Carlson’s facial expressions as well as his laugh. He also suggested that replacing him with the green M&M would be funny.
Desi Lydic commented on Tucker’s firing whole hosting The Daily Show saying, “Wow, I can’t believe that a network that’s so opposed to gender-affirming surgery just cut off their own d**k.”
James Corden also weighed in on Carlson’s and Lemon’s departures.
Very Little Roasting for Don Lemon
Interestingly, Don Lemon received very little roasting from the late-night hosts. The only host who took any jabs at Lemon was Lydic, who said, “CNN just fired Don Lemon after 17 New Year’s Eve blackouts — sorry — years of service.” This referenced Lemon and others getting drunk on air during New Year’s Eve. Lemen is believed to have been fired for sexist comments made in February.
