Mars Horizon is a title by Auroch Digital. Despite being what some dub ‘just a game,’ its release comes with an endorsement from the European Space Agency. Under your direction, humanity will conduct space exploration with a final goal. Will your direction lead humanity to settle on the red planet?
While the endgame goal is to finally settle on Mars, players must conduct other missions in Mars Horizon before doing so. Modeling itself after real life, developers have also made it possible for a mission to go sideways.
The game itself begins sometime in the 1950s when the great space race between countries began. Using a tile-mapping system, players will design and build their offices. As the story progresses, it will be possible to unlock more systems and features to add to the offices of mission control. Despite devoting attention to a specific problem, another problem may arise as a result.
Some notable Mars Horizon features include:
- Choose from a variety of space agencies to take control of, or dream up your own. Build everything required for a space agency to conduct operations
- Build a custom launchpad and combine different parts for your own custom vehicles, and improve the soundness of your exploration tools
- Use satellite launches and manned missions to explore the stars, solving problems that crop up along the way. All modeled after entirely plausible scenarios.
Mars Horizon is currently on Steam in the beta stages. The game is set for release for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year. Space enthusiasts and gamers alike will probably enjoy the title.
