Square Enix has announced that Life is Strange 2 will get a new physical and collector’s edition. The collector’s edition comes with some special bonuses, but those in the Americas will have to wait a bit longer for both.
Life is Strange 2 follows brothers Sean and Daniel as they traverse through the western United States following a tragic accident. They must learn to survive together and understand a bizarre power Daniel wields.
How Much Will It Cost?
The physical release costs $39.99 and comes with Episodes 1-4 of Life is Strange 2, bonus episode The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit and Arcadia Bay Patches to adorn Sean’s backpack with.
The collector’s edition costs $69.99 and comes with all the above, plus some extra bonuses. Also, the collector’s edition includes a vinyl box set of the soundtrack, an art book, and two vinyl figures of Sean and Daniel in a special collector’s edition box.
A Split Release in the Americas versus Europe
The physical and collector’s edition will be available on December 3, 2019, in Europe and February 4, 2020, in the Americas. Square Enix has clarified that the split in the release is due to content rating for physical releases.
The physical version in Europe is timed to release alongside Episode 5, which will conclude the game. Due to this, Episode 5 will be a separate download and will not be included in any of the physical versions.
Even if you are not planning on picking up the new physical versions, Episode 5 will still be available to download on December 3 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. For those looking for an introduction to Life is Strange 2, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a good start to what the Life is Strange games are about without spoiling too much.
Life is Strange 2 has tonally shifted from previous installments of the franchise, but still captures that young adult spirit. To pre-order the physical and collector’s edition now, go to BuyLiS2.com.
